STUMP GRINDING SITE HAZARDS

When stump grinding in Brisbane, we come to your home to evaluate what hazards are present.

We evaluate risks.

We do not want to damage your property, our equipment, or any persons.

​

Stump Grinding can be fun to watch, especially for young children.

However, Stump Grinding debris can travel a fair way and at high velocity, so it is wise to stay well clear of works being performed.

Debris can be wood chips, Dirt, rocks, stones, and any number of weird and wonderful objects that are in the ground around the stump, including tent pegs and old axe heads!

 

Pets.

Do you have pets at your home that may wish to wander into the work zone?

We are animal lovers too, but Dogs and machinery are generally a bad mix, we do not wish to harm your Pet so we ask that during our visit to your home that you please keep your Dog in a safe location.

Rural or semi rural properties with livestock.

Horses are great animals, some can be very curious and want to wander in for a closer look at what we are doing, some get flighty at the noise and debris.

We are from a Rural background and will always leave gates as we found them.

 

 

Underground services.

Stump grinding involves grinding below ground level, we need to ensure we aren't going to damage any services that are hidden below the ground.

 

Electricity.

There are two ways Electricity enters your property.

Overhead powerlines, and Underground.

If there is a stump with a potential power cable running nearby, we will need to determine the exact location of the power cable.

Due to the high level of risk of electric shock, we ask that the service is accurately located by digging to find the service at both sides of the stump.

 

Storm Water Drainage.

Stormwater collects any water from the rain. Typically running from roofs and pits in the ground.

These can be anywhere under the lawn and run to the roadside.

Sewerage and Greywater.

As you can imagine, we do not want to damage the sewerage lines, Yuck!

 

Water.

Water services generally enter from the front of the property.

We will need to ensure water plumbing is not under the stump. We may ask for you to accurately locate the plumbing prior to commencing works. 

 

Gas

As per Electricity and Water pipes, Gas Plumbing is a service in many suburban areas which poses a significant risk to personnel and property.

We ask that this service is located by digging to accurately locate the plumbing.

Pool areas.

Pool plumbing varies widely from pool to pool.

Pool pumps have a power supply, we will need to know where this is for our own safety.

Fencing.

We can get very close to fencing. Wire fencing can snare and get tangled in the cutter head of the grinder. Sometimes it is safer to remove or pull the fencing away from the work area prior to grinding.

Glass hazards

If there are a lot of glass doors close to the stumps, we will require the customer to protect the glass themselves.

We carry protective screens with us to contain debris to the grinding area, but from time to time a piece of debris will find its way out of the containment area.

 

Cars/vehicles

Vehicles that are close to where the stump is situated, may need to be moved to ensure no damage occurs to them.
